The Clubhouse

Welcome to the club for super cool party people who love forest school!

What is the Clubhouse?

The clubhouse is an exclusive membership program for our donors who have gone above and beyond to help us take the Free Haven Forest School experience to the next level of growth. Benefits are valid for 1 year after the opening of the parking lot and trail expansion on the West Side of Marley Creek. ETA: Spring 2023.

We cannot grow without the help of generous donors like you. By investing in Free Haven Forest School, your gift will immediately help build a Nature Center, double our capacity for enrollment, and blaze an additional mile of trails.

Why Join?

Allowing children to interact with nature will raise the next generation with greater empathy, curiosity, and selfconfidence. By investing in Free Haven, you are investing in childhood.

Alright, so what’s

the plan?

The simple fact is that we have outgrown our site. Over 60 cars a day park and pull out of our residential driveway, representing the 75 students a day that are taught in our two classroom sites. Thankfully, our 2 acre site is surrounded by 47 additional acres of undeveloped land that consists of prairie, wetlands, creek, and forest. This land just went up for sale, which is an incredible opportunity for Free Haven Forest School to expand into the premier site for outdoor education. With a site of this scale, we will become the hub - not just for children - but also for teachers throughout the region to learn from nature and experience Forest School.

Maybe the Clubhouse isn’t your style, and that’s ok! We’re on a mission and we’re grateful for every bit of support along the way.

FAQs

  • Each day is started with songs, letters, counting and calendar, followed by a child-led nature exploration & study. All subjects will be explored from a biblical worldview. Each month we will study a new interest topic chosen by the students. Students will have exposure to many hands-on art and science projects that will help them retain important concepts and information. By allowing children to construct their own learning, they have an opportunity to practice many skills that will equip them for a bright and successful future.

  • Depending on the age group this can change, but our low-ratio classes are limited to 10 students with a ratio of at least 1:5 for Forest Preschool.

  • This program will meet at our private forest school site in Mokena, IL with access to our heated schoolhouse building during inclement weather.

  • 1. Submit an application and fee.

    2. You will be contacted within 2 weeks to schedule a tour and mini orientation.

    3. If there is space on the day(s) you requested, you will start the registration process.

    4. If there is not space, you will be added to the waitlist until a spot opens up for you.

  • Due to our small class sizes and large demand, new students must submit an application to enroll. There is a non-refundable $25 fee associated with the application. Once an application is submitted, applicants will be invited to tour our facility and attend a mini orientation to make sure forest school is the best fit before committing to the school year. If there is no space, applicants will be placed on a waiting list for the remainder of the school year. Registration will be filled based on the date the application and fee are submitted.

"“Children more than ever need opportunities to be in their bodies in the world – jumping rope, bicycling, stream hopping, and fort building. It’s this engagement between limbs of the body and bones of the earth where true balance and centeredness emerge.”"
